NCB Financial Group Limited (“NCB Group”) was incorporated in April 2016 to become the financial holding company for National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (“NCB”). Discover Digital was tasked with creating a website presenting their diversified portfolio of companies throughout the Caribbean.
Mobile Friendly – The entire site was required to be mobile friendly which meant lots of additional time and effort went into this aspect of the project, to make it run smoothly.
Specific Content – The site needed to include some specific content. This included Quarterly Financial Reports, Board of Directors, History, News, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Menu Structure – Discover Digital created two different menus for the website. One was to be used for the desktop site, and the other for the mobile site.
Fast Loading – Some pages on the site had a lot of content and images, so Discover Digital had to reduce page load times and prevent high server load.
As a solution to making the site mobile friendly, Discover Digital decided to use the Bootstrap framework to aid site development. Bootstrap is the most popular HTML, CSS, and JS framework for developing responsive, mobile first projects on the web. It helps make front-end web development faster and easier. It's made for devices of all shapes, and projects of all sizes.
As a solution to the menu structure, Discover Digital decided to use inbuilt Kentico features. The Kentico feature Discover Digital used is called ‘Hierarchical Viewer’, which enables a user to control all the code for the menu.
As a solution to fast loading, Discover Digital decided to use what is known as ‘Lazy Loading’. Lazy Loading is a design technique of delaying when images will be shown on a site. Images outside of the user’s viewpoint are not loaded until the user scrolls to them.
