Cookie policy

The cookies we use on this website, what they do, and how to change your choice.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the website to work. Others help us see how the website is used and measure our advertising. Some tools also keep similar data in your browser’s local storage, and the same choices apply to it.

This policy covers discoverdigital.com, discoverdigital.gr and our campaign pages on campaign.discoverdigital.com.

Who sees our cookie banner

We show a cookie banner to visitors in the UK and the European Union. On discoverdigital.com and discoverdigital.gr it also appears in Norway, and on discoverdigital.com in Liechtenstein and the Isle of Man. Our campaign pages have their own banner, which works the same way.

Visitors elsewhere do not see the banner, and most of the cookies below are set as soon as a page loads.

What each choice does

The banner has two buttons. Accept turns on all the analytics, advertising and functionality cookies below. Decline keeps them all off, and a single cookie remembers your choice.

Until you choose, and if you decline:

  • Only the necessary cookies are set.
  • Google Analytics runs in Google’s consent mode with analytics and advertising storage denied, and HubSpot’s analytics runs without cookies. Both still send a basic record of each page view, but they store nothing on your device and keep no code that links one page to the next.
  • Google Tag Manager does not load, so neither do Hotjar and our Google Ads tags, and HubSpot does not load the Meta Pixel or the LinkedIn Insight Tag.

When you accept, HubSpot and Google Analytics set their cookies, Google Tag Manager loads Hotjar and our Google Ads tags, and HubSpot loads the Meta Pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag.

Changing your choice

If you see our banner, you can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings button at the foot of each page, which opens the banner again. Wherever you are, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

The cookies we use

Names are as your browser shows them, and we last checked them on 21 October 2026. Where we show the banner, only the necessary cookies are set unless you accept.

Necessary

  • __hs_cookie_cat_pref (HubSpot, 6 months): remembers your choice in the cookie banner.
  • __cf_bm (Cloudflare, which delivers HubSpot’s pages, 30 minutes): tells people from bots.
  • _cfuvid (Cloudflare, until you close your browser): helps Cloudflare limit the rate of requests.

Google reCAPTCHA also runs on pages with a form, to check that a person, not a bot, is sending it.

Analytics

  • __hstc (HubSpot, 6 months): records your visits, with the times of your first and latest visit.
  • hubspotutk (HubSpot, 6 months): recognises your browser. If you send a form, HubSpot uses it to link your visits to your enquiry.
  • __hssc (HubSpot, 30 minutes): counts the pages you view in a visit.
  • __hssrc (HubSpot, until you close your browser): tells HubSpot when a new visit starts.
  • _ga and _ga_GM3SGN0TVQ (Google Analytics, 2 years): tell visitors apart and keep track of the visit.
  • _hjSessionUser_6406889 (Hotjar, 1 year): recognises a returning visitor. On our campaign pages the number in the name is 3658418.
  • _hjSession_6406889 (Hotjar, 30 minutes): keeps track of the current visit. On our campaign pages the number in the name is 3658418.

Hotjar records visits to our pages: how you move, scroll and click, and what you type into our forms, with email addresses and numbers hidden. We use the recordings to see how people use our pages, so that we can improve them. Hotjar also keeps data in your browser’s local storage.

Advertising

  • _gcl_au (Google Ads, 90 days): links a click on one of our ads to a later enquiry.
  • IDE (Google, on doubleclick.net, 13 months in the UK and EEA, 24 months elsewhere): used by Google to show and measure ads.
  • test_cookie (Google, on doubleclick.net, 15 minutes): checks that your browser accepts cookies.
  • _fbp (Meta Pixel, 90 days): recognises your browser, so that Meta can measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram and show them to the right people.
  • fr (Meta, on facebook.com, 90 days): used by Meta to deliver and measure ads.
  • li_sugr (LinkedIn Insight Tag, 90 days): helps LinkedIn match your visit to a LinkedIn account, so that it can measure our ads and show them to the right people.
  • bcookie and bscookie (LinkedIn, 1 year): identify your browser to LinkedIn, to protect its service and its members’ sign-in.
  • lidc (LinkedIn, 1 day): chooses the LinkedIn data centre that handles the request.
  • UserMatchHistory and AnalyticsSyncHistory (LinkedIn, 30 days): keep LinkedIn’s advertising IDs in step.

Google Ads (_gcl_ls), Meta (lastExternalReferrer) and LinkedIn (li_adsId) also keep data in your browser’s local storage. If these cookies are on when you send one of our forms, Google also receives a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email address and phone number you entered, so that we can see which ads lead to enquiries. Our privacy policy explains this.

Functionality

  • messagesUtk (HubSpot chat, 6 months): recognises you in the chat window, so that it can show your earlier conversations.

Content from other websites

Some pages include content from other companies, which loads whatever you choose in our banner. Our Insights pages load sharing scripts from Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and an older article includes a video from Vimeo. These companies receive the address of the page you are reading, and may set or read their own cookies, under their own policies.
